Applying for European Union Visa
This article is posted under Working and Living Abroad
If you’re planning to travel to any European Union (EU) country, you will need an EU visa. But applying for one can take days to accomplish, what with all the forms you must answer and the requirements you need to prepare. But to accomplish the task easily, below are 5 steps you can follow. Spare some time and read them all very carefully.
Step 1: Determine the European Union (EU) country you are traveling to.
Before filing an application to get an EU visa, decide whether you are going to a Schengen country, the United Kingdom, or any other country included in the European Union. Once you’ve decided on the country you will travel to, you will know the type of EU visa to get.
An EU visa can be a Schengen, UK, or Irish visa for example. And although Schengen countries include most EU countries, only certain EU citizens can enter the borders of Schengen countries without a visa.
Step 2: Download an EU visa application guide.
You need an EU visa application guide to help you go about the visa application process. Various guides are available online or when you get an application form. The Schengen visa application guide and UK visa application guide help you get visas without hassles.
Step 3: Find out the category your visa application falls under.
Applications for EU visas are varied cases. Some people want to get visas to work, study, or immigrate to a EU country, for example. There are many other reasons a person may want to travel to EU countries and the category of his or her application for a visa depends on the reason for traveling.
Terms and conditions for getting and maintaining a EU visa also vary. Check out requirements for getting a visa and the ways to extend your stay in a country.
Step 4: Fill out EU visa application forms and prepare the requirements.
Provide the necessary information in EU visa application forms. You might need one or more copies for your use so make sure to get more than one form. In addition, you are required to produce other documents like your birth certificate, driver’s license, etc. so it’s better to have a checklist of all the necessities.
It is better to give more information than less. The more information you provide, the speedier your application is processed.
Step 5: Know the submission dates for application forms and requirements.
As soon as you download or order EU visa application forms, know when you must submit them to the EU immigration agency. There are usually varying dates of submission for different cases of visa applications. Keep the dates in mind to submit on time and to avoid prolonging the process of your application.
If you are already confused on how to go about the application process, ask help from an attorney specializing in immigration. He or she can assist you in preparing all forms and requirements.
