Even though there may be snow on the ground around various parts of the UK, I don’t know about you but around this time of year I’m already thinking about the summertime! My bikini body is the driving force of all my gym sessions!
The days of Christmas mince pies and endless tubs of Celebrations are over; bring on the natural yoghurt, fruit and gorgeous fresh meals. The best beach bodies are built from great diets and area specific exercises mixed with the right amount of cardio.
Getting the body
Yoga and Pilates are great for building strength and muscle tone; you’d be surprised by how much a low-impact exercise can do to your body. Most local fitness centres run classes and they are great for toning and conditioning whilst also being a great calmer after a long day at work.
As for cardio, interval training is great for fat burning and it also means that you don’t have to go for marathon-long runs in order to look great! Try to mix up your cardio because your body has its own memory and if you continue to do the same exercises, they no longer work as you just get used to them. You could try rowing, cycling or the cross-trainer to get some variety into your training routine. This is great if you’re like me and can sometimes have a short attention span when it comes to the gym!
Getting the perfect beach body isn’t all about cutting out all the things you love, denying yourself food will only make your cravings worse. You could try making portions slightly smaller and replacing things like white bread with wholemeal and normal rice with brown rice. In my opinion, it’s the little things that all add up! Eat fresh and only eat when you’re hungry, the key is to listen to your body.
My top tip for getting beach babe tousled locks is to use some texturizing spray which you can pick up from Boots or Superdrug. Lee Stafford do a great one called ‘Beach Babe Sea Salt Spray’ which mimics the effect that the salty water and sea air has one your hair without the horrible knots, creating gorgeous natural waves and texture in an instant. Salt spray is always my go-to product for when I’m in a rush in the morning and don’t have time to do my hair, gives you an easy style in no time at all.
Get the beach babe glow with a great bronzer – dust in a three shape starting from your forehead, down to your cheek and then round again to your chin and along your jawline, this will bronze the bits that would naturally catch the sun. Also, dust some along your nose to create the perfect ‘just caught the sun’ look.
The classic beach babe look is all about being bronzed, beachy hair and looking relaxed. Grab yourself a pair of Oakley glasses, some cute little surf shorts and head down to the beach with the girls and watch the gorgeous surfers roll in!
