How to Make Your Own Love Potion at Home
Even at this modern age, there are still some who believe and rely on love potions to improve romance or romantic relationships. Love potions have long been very intriguing. Some say the explanation behind love potions is because there are certain herbs, spices, and scents which arouse the senses, increase libido or desires. These are actually called aphrodisiacs. The idea of coming up with the right combination of such ingredients to create a concoction can be said as the principle behind love potions.
One of the popular love potions is Love Potion Number 9. Love potions can actually be prepared at home. Preparing homemade love potions are popular during Valentine’s Day. Here are some steps in making a love potion at home:
Step #1 - Prepare the following ingredients: 9 basil leaves, 9 oz. of sweet red wine, 9 red rose petals, 9 apple seeds, 9 drops of strawberry juice, 9 drops of vanilla extract, 9 cloves, 9 drops of apple juice, and 1 ginseng root, sliced equally into 9 pieces.
Step #2 – Combine these ingredients into a cauldron on the 9th hour of the 9th day of the 9th month of the year. Of course, you can try it anytime. You’ll never know if it might work as well.
Step #3 - Light the fire using 9 pink votive candles. Stir the potion 9 times while reciting the rhyme below:
“Let the one who drinks this wine
Shower me with love divine
Sweet love potion no.9
Make his or her love forever mine”
Step #4 – Let the potion boil and simmer for 9 minutes.
Step #5 - Blow nine times upon the potion, saying the name of the nine goddesses of love – Ishtar, Innana, Astarte, Hathor, Nephthys, Aphrodite, Freya, Venus, and Arianrhod.
How to use the love potion
After the potion has been strained and placed in a container, cover it and keep it refrigerated. Serve it to the person whom you wish to love you. Keep it hands off to any other person.
