Make Your Next Move Easier With The Help of Self Storage

There are a lot of things that you need to think about when you have an upcoming move. If you’re trying to sell your home as well, then your to do list will get even bigger. One way to reduce the stress that you experience from a move is to start packing early. Once you get a box packed, you can take advantage of one of the self storage options that are available to you.

Self-Storage Options

Portable Storage – Portable storage is an option that you can use if you have a little more money to spend. The company that owns the unit that you rent will bring the unit right to your front door. Once you load up your items, the company will carry the unit away to their own facility. If you need to add more items into the unit, they will bring back to you again, as many times as needed. What’s more, they will continue to store your items for any length of time that you need.

Air-Conditioned Units – If you have items that need to be stored in a climate controlled area, you can choose to use a company that offers indoor air-conditioned units. You will pay more for this type of self-storage than for a non air-conditioned unit; however, if you need longer storage and you want to protect your items from humidity and heat, this is the way to go.

Regular Units – Most self-storage companies offer outside units that are fully enclosed. What this means is that the units look like a series of attached garages. These types of units are rarely air-conditioned but they will protect your things from the elements. What’s more, this option tends to be the most affordable, unless you choose a covered unit with no sides, which isn’t recommended for household items.

Finding the Right Solution

First you’ll need to consider your needs and the kind of help you have available to you. For example, if you’re all alone with no one to help you move your things, then portable self storage may be the best option for you. This will ensure that you don’t injure yourself while attempting to move your items into and out of a vehicle before you’re able to store them.

Choosing the right company is also important. This is actually where social media can come in handy. You can use sites like Facebook to visit the Facebook pages of companies that you’re considering. Look and see how many likes they have on their pages. What’s more, look at the comments being made by their customers. You’ll often find that customers will visit Facebook to compliment, complain or ask questions and a good company will respond to all of these things.

You don’t want to overlook the benefits of sources like the Better Business Bureau as well. The BBB lists customer complaints and whether those complaints were resolved adequately.

The bottom line is that storing your items and getting them out of the way can make your move much easier. Check out your local options and see what self-storage choices you have.
