How to Wow at a Baby Shower

Having a child is one of the most precious times of anyone’s life and making sure that the baby shower is special for your friend or loved one is really important. Of course, if at all possible, you should always try and surprise the mommy-to-be with her baby shower. Send out the baby shower invitations on the sly and be sure that you invite people from all aspects of their life (family, friends, coworkers, etc.). It is important to remember that this shower is not for you and isn’t the time to be catty by excluding someone the mommy-to-be would want there that maybe others won’t.

Arranging the Menu

It is typical at a baby shower to have finger foods and other hors d’oeuvres, but be sure to consider the mommy in this situation. What are her favorite foods and would she want to have finger food or something that was more of a sit down meal? It is really important to remember who’s party is it in all aspects even though you are the one planning it. The shower cannot just meet your visions; you must take into consideration the likes and dislikes of the guest of honor.

Choosing a Theme

It can make your life a little easier if you pick a specific theme for the shower rather than just having nondescript it’s a boy or girl decorations. The theme will need to be chosen quickly as you will want your baby shower invitations to fit in with it. There are the typical themes such as storks, but it could be fun to throw a baby shower centered around something your friend or family member is going to use for their baby. For example, if you know she is having a little girl and that the whole room will be done in butterflies than you should throw a butterfly-themed baby shower and let guests know that this is the theme she has chosen for the baby room.

Of course there will be eating and opening presents, but what else? Are you going to play some of the traditional baby shower games? If you are, be sure to plan ahead what you will be playing. Pick activities that all of the guests are likely to participate in enthusiastically rather than whine and moan that they have to do it.

If you remember to stay organized, plan ahead, and keep your mommy-to-be in mind, you will have no problem throwing the perfect baby shower.
