Are You Ready To Get A Puppy?

If you are thinking about getting a puppy, then you should also think of the hard work that it is going to be. You should not just assume that having a puppy is always going to be fun and easy, as it can be extremely hard work. Don’t get me wrong, having your own little puppy following you around really is a pleasure, but you also need to consider how much of your time and patience it is going to take up to care for him properly.

There are many different things that you are going to need to think about before you get your little pup, if you know what is expected then you will be a lot more prepared. If you follow these tips, you will know if you are ready to get yourself a dog.

Not all the time spent with your dog is going to be play time as it is important to make sure that he is trained properly so that he knows how to behave. You should dedicate a little time each day to train your dog. It is essential that you do train your dog as this will allow him to know who the master is; this will make him better behaved in your home. Training your dog is also a great way to interact with your dog, he doesn’t just need physically exercise, he does actually need mental exercise and he will get this during training.

Whatever breed dog you have, you have to understand that you need to put some time aside each day to give him exercise. It is advised that you should walk your dog for at least 30 minutes each day, if you believe that it is going to be extremely impossible to do this, you should maybe think twice about getting a dog. It is often said that the smaller the dog is the less exercise they are going to need, so if you believe you are going to struggle to walk your dog for 30 minutes each day then you should consider getting a smaller dog.

Settling In

When you first get your puppy, you will need to spend extra time with your dog giving him extra attention to ensure that he settles in fine. You should get your dog a bed so that he has his own space that he can go to where he can relax and go to sleep. You should also get your dog some toys that he can play with in the house so that he can stay amused and not get bored.
