Commercial head lice products in the market today can be harmful to your kids since these are chemically based. Try the natural way of killing head lice. Mayonnaise can help you get rid of those stubborn head lice. Massage the hair with mayonnaise; make sure that you cover the hair and scalp. Then use a shower cap to cover the head. Leave it for two hours and then rinse it off. It might take you to shampoo your hair twice to remove the mayonnaise. At this time, adult lice are already dead. Now you have to treat the eggs or nits. Eggs are glued to the shaft of the hair. Wet the hair again this time with vinegar. Vinegar helps loosen the glue that holds the nits onto the shaft. Most of the eggs will be drained down the sink. Rinse hair with hot water, but please make sure that it is not too hot to cause burn. Some eggs are really hard to remove. So it is best to remove them manually or by the use of a nit comb.

We deal quite a bit with lice every year, because we spend almost every summer at my parents' place in the countryside, and every time we go back home, my daughter brings with her a couple of "pets" on her head. I am not quite sure where she gets them, though most probably they are from her friends and/or playmates who have them. Anyways, I am not quite bothered with these lice ever since I discovered a medicated shampoo specially made for lice. This shampoo has lindane in it and it really works wonders! You just have your kid shampoo it around twice or thrice a week, depending on how many lice are there in your kid's head, then you will actually see the dead lice when you comb the hair after shampooing. I just noticed that if you use the shampoo too much it causes dryness to the hair so you have to use it as sparingly as possible.

I remember when I was still small, I had lice on my head and didn't know about it. I just realized it when I asked my mom why my head itches so much and then she told me that I have lice on my head. The reason for it is because I stay under the sun too much and doesn't wash my hair and scalp properly. It was really annoying to scratch my head everytime. From that day on, I always wash my hair and scalp thoroughly and rinses it properly. It took me long enough to remove the lice on my head.

Always remember to keep your head clean. Always comb your hair and try to avoid staying under the sun for too long.

There's a natural way of getting rid with lice. Just use orange fruit juice to remove lice. During bathing, before putting shampoo to the hair, pour a cup of orange juice to it first. Scrub it gently for 5 to 6 minutes. Then add shampoo to the hair. Be sure that you massage it into the scalp. To prevent lice from invading your kid's head, don't let them be exposed in the sun for long periods of time. If your kid is a boy, you might want to shave his head until his lice are gone. If the lice are still there, consult a doctor for an advise for what is the best product to use in removing lice.

It is best to teach your children as early as preschool age the proper hygiene. Talk to them using a very instructive approach to avoid using other people’s private belongings like comb and hair products. Teach them how lice easily get transmitted by sharing these personal effects. A tip to get rid of lice overnight is using castor oil. You just have to douse your hair with castor oil and plaster with disposable head plastic and let it stay over night. You can wash it off in the morning and you will be surprised that all your head lice are gone.

Lice are a nuisance. Period. Though unlike dog fleas and ticks, they are less likely to develop immunity against chemical treatments. Something I would like to add though, sometimes fine combs just aren't enough to deal with them, some lice actually stick to your scalp/hair so hard that they are hard to comb off. In this case, you can buy specially-formulated combs and shampoos meant to kill and prevent lice infestation. Follow the steps above and your child would really have a good night's sleep
