After extensive browsing and many lunch hours spent online shopping, you’ve found your perfect party dress. You’ve tried it on and it fits perfectly, flattering your figure and making you look and feel fantastic. This is what the right party dress should feel like.
You may feel a million dollars in your brand new dress, but there are still a few key things you need before you’re ready for that big night out. So, before hitting the town, don’t forget these three essentials:
1. The right underwear
Believe it or not, what you wear underneath your clothes can make a huge difference to how everything looks on the outside. Above all, your underwear needs to fit you properly. Bras need to fit comfortably and be supportive, and you may even want to choose a cleavage-enhancing bra depending on the dress style.
If you’ve gone for bodycon, bandage or other very tight going out dresses, you might want to consider wearing shaping underwear underneath. High-waisted shaping briefs, for example, can pull you in around the stomach and hips, giving you the sleek silhouette you had in mind when you first picked out the dress.
2. The right shoes
Shoes can make or break an outfit, so you need to match yours perfectly to your dream dress. For a big party or night out, it has to be high heels or wedges. Heeled or wedged shoes make you look taller and elongate your legs, but you need to make sure you can walk in them before you head out the door. After all, there is nothing sexy about a broken ankle! If you’re unsteady on stilettos, wedged or platform shoes might be the best option.
3. A gorgeous clutch
The final touch to your glamorous new look is the perfect clutch bag. You can’t go wrong with a black clutch, but keep the gloss and glitz to a minimum if you’ve gone for a sparkly or embellished statement dress.
Last of all, you might want to consider finding a light jacket to go over your dress. You might not like to go out in a coat or jacket and have to put in the cloakroom, but you’ll find that you really appreciate a bit of coverage when you head out on one of the freezing nights we’ve been experiencing recently. Short black biker jackets look great with most going out dresses and can complete your look, as well as keeping you warm between bars.
