Ultimate Power Songs

We’ve all been there before; your energy and commitment levels are flagging. All you want to do is stop, just for a minute; you can see the finish line but the desire to reach it has floundered. Then out of nowhere, as if your iPod has sensed your imminent failure, the first beats of the most awesome song that you have ever downloaded start to sound through your earphones.

Nothing pushes you further whilst exercising than willpower, and what can help you reinforce your willpower? Power songs, that’s what. To help everyone find the best power song for them I’ve listed a handful of my favourites below.

Eye of the Tiger – Survivor

Speaks for itself really, it was always going to be in there. Used in one of the greatest training montages in film history it has the perfect combination of inspiring lyrics and an insane 80’s rock feel.

Honestly, I think I’ve played my best card first with this one because most of you will have nodded your heads and stopped reading because you’ve gone to download it (saying that who doesn’t already have it?).

So here are the also-rans who can still provide a much needed boost during your workout; ranging massively in genres from rock classics by Queen, KISS and Metallica to classical masterpieces by Wagner and Parry. I think Michael Bolton’s “Go The Distance” is also appropriate because it tells people to do more than what’s asked from them. It’s also spiritually uplifting.

I’ll definitely agree on those songs that were posted and would like to add more on the list if I were the author. Music is the expression of the soul, and sometimes it brings out the best in you. These were mostly played during sporting events, like basketball, boxing, mixed martial arts, etc. These what motivates athletes and can help them perform better in their chosen disciplines.

As we all know, songs are inspiration, and it will always be, we just have to know the right kind of songs that will inspire us. Every individual have different type of songs so i believe any song genre will always be a part of our everyday lives. When I am driving I used to listen to the music of the 80’s special mention to Bolshoi’s AWAY and also songs of THE POLICE, it keeps me awake and feel confident on the road. The funny thing is my husband and I will sing along loudly inside the car and surprisingly our children will sing with us , they were moved by the song also although it is not in their generation
