Many people are troubled by the extra security routines at airports these days, but the new security measures should actually be the least of your worries before you leave your house. If you are taking a trip out of the country where you will be on a place for an extended period of time, then you should really be concerned about what you are going to do on the plane. There is nothing you can do about your interaction with the TSA or taking off your shoes before you get scanned, so you should focus more of your time and energy on your in-flight activities. Most planes usually have a movie you can watch during a long flight, but you can also bring your own tools for entertainment to improve the overall experience. Take a look at these top three tips before you leave the house for your flight.
#1 – Do Not Expect to Sleep on the Flight
While some people can easily fall asleep on a plane as it takes off, most people get too excited to nap for more than a few hours. Some people think that it is a good idea to not sleep the night before a flight so they can sleep while they are in the air. This is a great idea in theory, but it rarely works out in reality. Unless you are someone who has slept on flights in the past, you should not expect to be able to fall asleep for the entirety of your upcoming flight. Most people are thrilled to be on their exotic vacation, so they will simply not be able to get any sleep while they are on their way to a new place.
#2 – Download Everything Before You Leave the House
Most people rely on tablets, phones and computers while they are in the air, but you need to make sure that you can actually use the features of your electronics while you are in the air before you assume that you can just watch a movie or read something online. This tip does not really apply to individuals who will be on a plane that includes WiFi, but most airplanes do not offer this feature right now. If you are going to watch a movie, then you need to make sure that the video file is actually on your computer before you leave the house rather than on the Internet. You will not be able to access anything stored in the cloud while you are in the air, so this is something you need to think about before you step on the plane.
#3 – A Friend is the Best Source of Entertainment
If you really want to have a good time on your flight and not find yourself counting down the number of minutes until you reach your destination, then you should bring a friend along for the ride. Plenty of people think about their books and electronics before they head out for a flight, but not many people think about the value of friends in a situation where you will be stuck on a plane for more than a few hours. Although bringing a friend along for the ride can sometimes not be an option, you should always bring someone with you if possible. You can also simply chat with a friend who is not on the plane through the plane’s WiFi if available, but nothing beats the real thing.
