That of year is just around the corner when you get to spoil that special person in your life rotten. The trouble is, when it comes to Valentine’s Day, the usual flowers and chocolates have been done to death and so this year why not go all out to really show your loved one how much they mean to you by whisking them away on a romantic trip to the Italian region of Tuscany.
The Tuscan backdrop provides the perfect location for a stress free getaway and it will be something that the two of you will remember for the rest of your lives. The weather is sure to be better than the freezing temperatures we have recently seen in the UK and there is plenty for any pairs of love birds to do; if you want to leave the hotel room that is.
Although Tuscany is quite expansive, it is very easy to get around by car, train, bus or bike. So why not use a hotel or one of the many luxury Tuscan villas as your base and explore the beautiful area around you.
Avoid The Crowds – Although taking your loved one to Tuscany is pretty special, you can bet your life that there will be lots of other people doing the same thing. So with that in mind, why not avoid the crowds and visit some of the places less populated by tourists. Although the famous cities of Florence and Pisa are well worth a visit, Tuscany has so much more to offer in the shape of other areas that really show of its rustic, medieval beauty.
The quaint little town of San Gimignano is the perfect example of this with its many winding back streets and breath-taking views. Be sure to check out the amazing miniature recreation of the city and grab a nice gelato to help fuel your walks.
Relax, It’s A Holiday – Although you will of course want to fit is as much as you can, it is important to remember that is it supposed to be a relaxing romantic break and so you should treat it that way. Try letting somebody else do the work by taking a tour of Florence in a horse and cart; it is a great way to see the city in a romantic capacity.
Something else that is sure to sooth those aching limbs and remove any unwanted stress is a dip in the many hot springs around the region. There are a few spas attached to hotels but for the real experience of what these thermal waters can offer you should be sure to visit the Bagno Vignoni which is to the south of Siena.
Wine And Dine Them – One of the most famous areas of this stunning part of Italy is the iconic region of Chianti. For any couples that are into their wine, the many vineyards will provide the perfect romantic backdrop to your Tuscan getaway. Tasting tours can be booked at most of the vineyards and there is sure to be many different varieties of this delicious wine to keep you occupied.
There are a lot of restaurants in Tuscany that will offer a great venue for your Valentine’s dinner for two but perhaps none as perfect as Peperino. This ingenious restaurant only has one table, laid up for two people. If you don’t feel too awkward being waited on by the one and only waiter, who is contacted by a bell, then the atmosphere and food at this delightful place will give you an evening to remember.
