Five Things You Simply MUST Do In Paris

One of the most beautiful cities in the world, Paris should be on everyone’s must-visit list. The only problem for those who go there is that a few days are never going to be enough to see and do everything. Therefore, most visitors end up being understandably selective, and in the process they miss out on some truly wonderful experiences. If you are planning a visit to the French capital in the coming months, here are five things that should feature on your itinerary.

View the city from on high

The most prominent landmark in Paris is undoubtedly the Eiffel Tower, and no visit to the city is truly complete without experiencing the stunning views from the observation deck. It may seem more like a cliché to the weary traveller, but it’s simply too iconic to ignore, so make sure you include it on your timetable. It can get rather busy at peak times, but it’s definitely worth making the effort.

Take in the culture

Another popular tourist attraction is the Louvre, and although this wonderful art gallery and museum will almost certainly be teeming with crowds, you shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to see what’s inside. Some of the world’s finest artworks are located within its distinctive walls, and with so many to view you will need to set aside a sizable amount of time if you want to see a large number of them.

Stroll the boulevards

Perhaps the best way to get a true taste of what Paris is really like is to simply put on a pair of comfortable walking shoes and take a stroll along the boulevards of this magnificent city. The elegant stores, the wide sidewalks and the tempting restaurants will give you the sights, sounds and smells of the most romantic metropolis on the planet, so just wander along and soak up the unique atmosphere.

Relax in the gardens

Like many other great cities, Paris is home to a number of stunning public parks and gardens, and these provide a very welcome oasis of peace and tranquillity. There are times when the most pleasant activity will be to simply sit on a bench with an ice cream and watch the world go by, and in the capital of France the most popular location for this relaxation is the Jardin des Tuileries, which is to be found right next to the Louvre.

Shop till you drop

There are so many wonderful opportunities to shop in Paris, so if you’re keen on a little retail therapy this is the city for you. Whether you’re into high fashion or stunning antiques, you should be making tracks to the chic stores and the atmospheric markets at some point during your stay. Prices aren’t always going to be low, of course, but this is perhaps the world’s most stylish city, so the expense is worthwhile.
