Getting rid of common warts can be handled safely and hygienically by a dermatologist. The warts need to be pricked a little before cauterizing them. There are some who use a cold method instead of cauterization to remove warts. The paste used is from the extract of cashew which can quickly remove the warts without any burns like cauterization.Nevertheless, just make sure that for any method used, use sterilized equipment for pricking to prevent infection.

You can acquire common warts by using other people's towels who have common warts. So I suggest that you should refrain from borrowing other people's personal belongings even if they are your best friend or a family member. Personal things like towels should not be shared to prevent yourself from acquiring whatever virus or any type of disease.

I had common warts before which was cauterized by a dermatologist. There was more than 100 common warts sitting on my face and neck which is almost not visible to the naked eye. I was surprised to know that. After the cauterization, I was advised to throw away all the sponge I use for putting foundation on. And all the paraphernalia I use for putting make up on because I can acquire the warts back if I use them all again.

Personally, I let my dermatologist handle this problem and she takes care of it thru electro-surgery or cauterization. In this method, warts are burnt with electric current. Yes, It sounds painful, but of course, you will be treated with anaesthetics first before undergoing the procedure, but still, it stings a little especially in the neck areas where our skin is a little thinner.

To tell you the truth, I really don't like this method at all because aside from being a bit expensive & painful, it's also embarrassing because little black marks appear on my face the day after the cauterization. This marks usually lasted for 4 to 5 more days. But it's the only sure method of eliminating almost all warts, even those not visible to the naked eye.

I agree that some home remedies are helpful and effective in preventing the spread of warts, however the problem still exists because all you do is keep them from spreading. So might as well let a professional handle the situation.

One of the most effective way to remove warts is thorugh the application of salicylic acid. Make sure that to get patches or solutions that has 17% salicylic acid as this will help remove the infected skin. It would be best if you soak the wart infected part of your skin in warm water for 15 to 20 minutes before applying a patch or solution. Using this treatment usually takes weeks and in between treatments you can use nail file to remove dead skin cell to speed up the treatment.
