Ways to Overcome Your Inferiority Complex

This article is posted under Mental health

Low-self esteem is one of the factors that could make you unsuccessful in your career, personal relationships, and in other aspects of your life. Having inferiority complex can stunt your growth and development as an individual. Read on to know how you can overcome inferiority complex.

Steps on overcoming inferiority complex

Step #1: Think positively

If you want to develop a good personality, you should start discarding negative thoughts. You should replace your pessimistic thoughts with optimistic ideas. You should think about other people around you and also about yourself in a positive light.

Step #2: Avoid negative self-talk

One of the things that you should avoid is negative self-talk. Avoid saying “I can’t do it” or “I am not bright.” You have to acknowledge that you are a unique person with unique skills and talents.

Step #3: List down your positive traits

You talk lowly of yourself because you do not see your potentials and talents. You have to reflect upon your strengths and potentials. You should list them down and read them when you feel bad about yourself.

Step #4: Deal with your insecurities

If you feel insecure because of your weaknesses, remind yourself that nobody is perfect. An individual has his or her own strengths and weaknesses. This is why instead of dwelling on your limitations, you should focus on what you can do.

Step #5: Be happy with who you are

You are a unique person. Despite your shortcomings and limitations, you are unique and special. You have to keep these in mind all the time.

Tips and reminders

Remind yourself that you are just human and imperfect. You don’t have to be perfect to appreciate yourself. Keep in mind that you have hidden potentials that are just waiting to be uncovered.

One of the secrets of success is confidence. If you want to succeed in life, one of the things that you should do is to successfully deal with your inferiority complex.

Inferiority Complex is a state of mind wherein a person tends to surround himself with negative thoughts, leading to an unhappy and unsatisfactory lifestyle. This can be caused by a number of reasons, most particularly, by low self-esteem, insecurity and lack of confidence in ones self. In order to overcome inferiority complex, one must have a positive outlook in life and remember that a glass, even if not filled to the top is half full and not half empty. They must also learn to accept ones self and cope with the burden of being human, hence far from being perfect and one must be able to cultivate ones mind to have confidence in oneself in so that he/she can boost his confidence and self-esteem.

A lot of people do not have confidence because I think they do not like themselves. They think of themselves as less important or less pretty or less intelligent than the people around them. The first step to gaining confidence and win the confidence of others is to like yourself more. It would be good if you identify your strengths, positive traits and not focus on the negative or your weaknesses. The second thing that would be helpful in gaining confidence is to read self-help books or maybe attend seminars that would boost your confidence. Another thing that you can do is to overcome fears and maybe try things that you haven’t tried before. Once you overcome all these then there is a great chance that you will gain confidence and be a better person.

All of us experience inferiority complex in one form or another. We cannot deny the fact that we have something that we do not like in ourselves.Having a low self-esteem makes us often afraid of anything and everything that we tend to lock ourselves up and never get to try to go out and mingle with others. This low self esteem stems from our lack of faith and belief in ourselves.Self-respect is first and foremost to gain any king of good feeling and self-esteem.Try also to have friends that you share common interests with, having the support of peers bolsters self-esteem and morale. It just takes a bit of work and confidence but anyone can overcome low self-esteem.

Find a role model that would help you in rediscovering yourself. May it be a friend or your sister or your neighbor. Talk to them and ask them how to get through life’s obstacles. They will help you a lot since they have experienced it first-hand. Be careful in choosing your role model. They will be the one to mold you into something extraordinary and wiser in life not the opposite. Sometimes, because we are too confused and upset, we tend to grab any help we can.

Inferiority complex is, in other words, self-hate. Having such state of mind, one often disbelieves good things people see in him/her. This can hinder the person from doing what he/she wants. I agree with the message of this article, everything begins with entertaining positive thoughts. One way that can help you stop self-hating is by surrounding yourself with people who are productive, working well with other people, and are able to affect others positively. These people will not only serve as inspiration, they will also help you discover things you do extraordinarily and will help you build up that ability.

Inferiority complexes are really difficult to get rid of. With some people, it is even an addiction and it makes them feel, well, “good” thinking that they’re not good at all. What people have to realise that this kind of addiction is very detrimental to themselves. This complex not only affects how you think about yourself but also affect how other people think of you and accordingly, they may end up taking advantage of you and your complex. Getting rid of it is just seeing that being like this doesn’t do you any good and that you will have a much better life thinking that you are worth the things you want for yourself.
