Uneven Skin Tone: Steps on How to Deal with It
This article is posted under Body imageA healthy glowing skin is sign of excellent health. The skin is a reflection of how we fare on the outside and also on the inside; it actually mirrors the state of our internal health. Aside from wellness, a glowing, even skin tone is closely associated to our conception of beauty. We evaluate the attractiveness of a person not just with her or his face and the way she or he carries herself or himself, but also with her or his skin. The importance of an even skin tone is the reason why we strive hard to keep our skin in excellent condition. However, some of the things around us or some of the thngs that we do, cause us to have uneven skin tone.
Causes of uneven skin tone
Some of the causes of uneven skin tone are within our control, but some are not. One of the causes of ugly skin tone which we can actually control is smoking. This habit causes the premature ageing of the skin and also causes it to lose color. Stress can also affect the skin. This usually manifests in the form of acne, and the drying and flaking of the skin. Staying in an airconditioned room can also cause skin dryness. The season is also one of the most influential factors. During the warm season, for instance, the skin loses moisture very fast. Aside from these, exposure to the sun can speed up skin ageing and would also cause uneven skin tone.
How to have a more even skin tone
There are actually a lot of ways to get a healthy glowing and even toned-skin. The methods range from the application of chemical and herbal products to undergoing minor skin surgery. Some of these ways are costly. There are others that involve risks. So before you decide to resort to any of the ways mentioned above, why not try using the natural and less costly ways of getting healthy and even-toned skin? Follow the steps below for an even complexion.
Step #1: Drink enough water everyday.
This is one of the most basic and least costly ways to hydrate your skin. However, you should not drink water exceedingly because this also has a negative effect on your health. It can cause hyponatremia.
Step #2: Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.
This is a no-brainer, but health experts keep on repeating this tip. It’s because only few people follow this precious advice. Fruits and vegetables have vitamins and minerals that can slow down the process of skin ageing, thereby, keeping the skin healthy and young as you age.
Step #3: Use nature’s exfoliants.
Our skin sheds off dead cells. To get rid of these dead cells, we need exfoliants. The safest exfoliants are the natural ones. These include sea salt, fruit peel, wheat germ, and ground oatmeal among others. Aside from being safe, they’re also less costly than chemical ones.
Step #4: Keep your skin protected at all times.
Experts advice that before exposing yourself under the scorching heat of the sun, you have to apply sunblock cream or lotion first. But as much as possible, you should stay under the shade when the sun is at its hottest.
Step #5: Don’t experiment with beauty products.
If you are curious with the new beauty product on the market, do not use yourself as a guinea pig. You may not know it but your skin might be very sensitive. So before using any chemical-based product, consult your dermatologist first.
Caring for your skin is very important. As mentioned earlier, a glowing and even-toned skin implies good health and beauty. This is why you have to make it a point to actively care for your skin. You don’t have to spend a great deal to have a well-toned skin; all you have to do is to follow the steps above.
