Choosing A Swimsuit For Your Body Type

Swimsuit season is upon us and buying a new suit is one of the most stressful things about getting ready for summer or a tropical vacation. You are probably already getting waxed and spray tanned, cutting calories and upping your workout regime and fighting anxiety attacks at the thought of fluorescent lit fitting rooms. There is no overnight fix to get you ready for trying on swimsuits but it should help to know that we are all suffering together.

One way to ease that stress is to plan ahead, and figure out which type of suit to try on. There are suits that flatter every shape, and make the most of your best attributes. By sticking with a suit that flatters your body type you can simplify the process, and once you know the style you’re looking for, all you have to do is select the perfect color!

Pear Shaped Like Rhianna and Shakira

For those of you with heavier hips and thighs and smaller shoulders and bust, high cut bottoms are your best bet. They will make your legs appear longer, and dramatically leaner. Choose a v-neck top, preferably with embellishment at the bust line, which will draw the eye up toward your face. Look for dark, solid colored bottoms and light colored or printed tops. Another way to balance the figure is by wearing swim dresses or skirtinis, but keep them short and fitted. One piece suits or swim dresses with princess seams or empire waistlines are also very slimming. Avoid boy shorts because they visually shorten your legs by cutting your thighs off at the wrong place.

Apple Shaped Like Drew Barrymore and Catherine Zeta-Jones

If you are trying to disguise a fuller waist, look for one-piece swimsuits with details on the sides like ruching which will slim the appearance of your midsection. Wrap styles are especially flattering because they balance and add length to your figure.. There are even suits available with control panels built in.  Choose swimsuits with built-in underwire bras to draw the eye up above your waist. Deep v, wide, or square necklines will be most flattering and help narrow your shoulders. Blouson style tops will also camouflage a tummy. Avoid shiny fabrics that tend to accentuate bulges.
Hourglass Shaped Like Scarlett Johansson And Salma Hayek

Any style of suit will work with this body type, though the most flattering will have a halter top.Swimsuits with details on the side, or a pattern which highlights curves, take advantage of an hourglass figure. A solid color one piece suit will give a sleek look, and string bikinis are a great way to show off a small waist.

Stick Shaped Like Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson

If you think of yourself as athletic or boyish, and have an indistinct waistline, you can create the illusion of curves with suits that have shirring at the waist and bust. Look for halter tops and string tie bottom combinations. Suits with wrap or ruffle details are very flattering on this body type. Bold patterns can add shape and flouncy skirts will give you a feminine, flirty look.

Buying a new swimsuit can really be a stressful thing for tropical vacation. By instinct females would always be conscious of the outline of her body figure to project to people around. In comparison to, also being conscious about what to wear in attending party celebrations. One would always consider uniqueness or one of its kind in style and material used based on the occasion and individuals attending it.

  2. Wow. I never thought there are also fashion tips for swimwears. Cool. I like the fact that you use celebrities’s bodies as examples. Makes it easier for you to associate your body with the best swimsuit. While it is important that you look good (for self-esteem), i believe it is also important that you feel very comfortable with what you wear. Remember, confidence comes not just from looking good but feeling good as well. And when you have the confidence, your sexiness with just ooze all the way.
