Highlighting Your Features with Makeup

There are things every woman can do to put her best face forward. When you acknowledge just what your best features are, you can learn how to accentuate them with makeup tricks that can truly transform your look. Play up your best features and you will be surprised at the difference you will see in the mirror.

Here are a few features to consider:

·      Great Skin

If clear, smooth, beautiful skin is one of your greatest assets maybe your best feature needs less, not more. Think about it. We all use foundation to achieve an even-toned appearance. You might want to consider the light effect of a simple tinted moisturizer if you are lucky enough to have flawless skin.  Foundation is made to cover imperfections.

·      Lovely Lips

If you have the full, pouty lips we all seem to be after consider yourself blessed. If not, don’t fret, fake them. Regardless of the season, always keep your lips healthy and moisturized with a good quality lip balm with an added sunscreen. Use it morning, noon and night, alone or under lipstick or gloss, to keep your lips in tip-top shape. Full lips can be accentuated with a sheer gloss or to make them appear slimmer, a darker shade of lip color. To plump your lips, use a light color and top off with some shimmer or shine.

·      The eyes have it.

Color and shape are the two attributes of beautiful eyes most envied by many women. If you’ve shopped your makeup counter lately you will find full kits of makeup designed to accentuate eye color. Keep in mind your makeup should always complement your coloring, not compete with it or overpower it. You will want to use different makeup and techniques for day and evening.

·      Sky-high Cheekbones

One of the most important components of proper makeup technique is using the appropriate brushes. Nowhere is this truer than with the application of blush to accentuate your cheekbones. When applying a powder blush, you should always use a good quality, full, fluffy blush brush. Smile as though you simply couldn’t be any happier and apply blush from the “apple” of your cheek up and back toward you temple. If you want to really accentuate your cheekbones, sweep a darker shade just under your cheekbones and a highlighter to their tops.

·      The nose knows.

One of the features most disliked by women across the board would have to be the nose. If you want to slim a wider nose, apply a highlighter or concealor or down the center of the nose and blend.

·      Keep your chin up.

If you have a small chin, make it appear larger by applying a highlighter right in the center of the chin under the center of your mouth. To shrink a double chin, use bronzer just at the jaw line and blend downward into your neck.
Go ahead—experiment. Learn how to make the most of what you’ve got. You’ll be so glad you did.
