4 Options on Faking a Tan

Just the way how dark clothes make people look thinner, a tan makes a person’s color look better. This summer, dark clothes are to be kept at the closet and it’s time to wear skin cooling clothes. To match the summer ensemble, it’s the perfect time to add bronzer brushes and other brushes for tinted makeup into those cosmetic brush bags. It will be needed to apply color into the skin.

However, it is not easy to get a tan. People used to sit under the sun for hours during summertime. Today, it is medically proven unfortunately, that doing so can cause skin cancer. Despite hourly reapplication of SPF lotions and sunscreen, human skin is just too vulnerable to the sun’s ultraviolet rays. The predominant source of ultraviolet radiation, sun exposure, is never healthy. That includes tanning beds that emit the suspect – cancer-causing agents from the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

Aside from getting the perfect tan, perhaps one of the reasons why people love lounging under the sun is its contribution of Vitamin D production in the human body. While it’s good though, it is still safer to take supplements. On the other hand, over-the-counter tanning products or spray tans pose no threats. Tanning products are made with DHA, or Dihydroxyacetone. It temporarily stains the skin and later fades like a natural suntan does because skin cells are still shed naturally.

Here are options to getting a fake tan sans wrinkles, brown spots and carcinogens:

Professional Spray Tans

Professional spray tans provide the most even tan, with no streaks, blotches or funky colors. It can also correct tan lines and add body contours or enhance muscle and abs appearance. It is available in many tanning spas and salons. However, it’s costly and does not last long than any other options. Added to that, customers have to be brave enough to stand totally naked in front of an attendant who will spray the entire body.

Booth Spray Tans

Booth spray tans are like being in a car wash. Customers stand naked in a booth with sprays of tanning solution. A shower cap and various creams are provided to be applied on various parts of the body for protection. This option is more private and much cheaper than the professional alternative. However, uneven spraying cause’s blotch which destroys the entire look altogether.

Self-Tanners

Probably the best option, self-tanning solutions provide the best cheapest route. What’s more, it can be easily done in the privacy of home. There are many products available in the market today for this option. Shades can even be experimented upon to get the best color for different skins. However, reaching the back parts is the main problem of this option. When tanning, just ask help from a friend or family member to spray on the backsides.

Makeup/Bronzers

Using makeup to give the skin a sun-kissed look is instant gratification. A bronzer is the perfect makeup for this endeavor. This summer, cosmetic brush bags should have a short, fluffy brush for applying bronzer. Apply it on the parts of the face which the sun naturally hits – forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks. For women wearing a bare top, apply bronzer on the neck and chest as well. However, bronzers are only good for the face and chest. It leaves the body still pale.
