6 Ways to Jumpstart Your Energy in the Afternoon

Let’s face it, our day to day lives can get really hectic. We are all so busy and it seems that sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done that we need to. This becomes especially hard to deal with when we don’t feel our best or do not have the energy to complete certain tasks. Listed below are 6 simple ways that you can recharge yourself and activate your energy in the afternoon when it really starts to diminish. Start implementing each one of these steps and you will be on your way to feeling more energized and ready to tackle every single thing you need to get done.

Eat Right

Watch what you put in your mouth. Those sugary stacks and extra cups of coffee may give you a little energy boost but the crash your body experiences a mere 45 minutes later really isn’t worth it. Often times it ends up leaving you feeling more drained and tired than if you hadn’t consumed it at all. Stick to foods that give you natural energy, foods rich in fiber and vitamins. This is contrary to what most people tell you but stay away from caffeine, or at least minimize how much you drink.

Take a Break

Take a renewal break at least every hour and a half. Get up, walk around, clear your mind, drink some water. This often allows you to briefly rest and refocus.

Posture

Check your posture. Whether you sit or stand for the majority of your day, doing so incorrectly can be physically draining to your body. When you sit and stand with correct posture, your body is naturally more aligned and you won’t feel drained.

Medications

Take into consideration medications you are on or if you get enough sleep at night. People tend to feel the drowsiest in the afternoon because that’s when their body begins to react to lack of sleep as well as the side effects of certain medications. If you are aware of these things you can combat them.

Focus

Work on one thing at a time. Too much multitasking can actually drain you much faster than working on one task at a time. Not only that but when you can focus on just one thing, you can get it completed quicker and move onto the next task.

Exercise

Now if you think you don’t have time for exercise, you’re wrong. Whether it’s 15 minutes or 30. Even light exercise can exponentially increase your energy.
