Hot – Apples Or Blackberries? The Blackberry Z10 Vs. The Apple IPhone 5

Just a few short weeks ago the thought of choosing a Blackberry phone over an Apple iPhone would never have crossed anyone’s mind. After all, the iPhone is a solid, reliable device and a best selling handset. A Blackberry, on the other hand, is an outdated smart phone that still has a physical keyboard. However, things change. In this instance what’s changed is that Blackberry have decided to get with the programme, and have just launched the Z10, a sexy, sleek looking device with no keyboard in sight. But does Blackberry really have what it takes to beat the iPhone? We took the new Z10 and put it up against the iPhone 5, Apple’s flagship model, to see exactly how they compare and what their differences are. And we were more than a little surprised by the results…

What the Blackberry Z10 Has to Offer…

The Z10 has an awful lot of great features. It is the faster phone. It runs a 1500 MHz processor over the 1300 MHz processor in the iPhone, making it more powerful and snappier. It also runs double the RAM, meaning that it’s more responsive and better able to handle multi-tasking or running more than one process at a time. The screen is bigger, measuring in at 4.2 inches over Apple’s four inches. But not only that, it’s better quality too. The Z10 has forty per cent higher screen resolution as well as ten per cent more PPI (pixels per inch), meaning that the display is brighter, sharper and crisper than that of the iPhone. Plus, the Blackberry also has better battery life. It gets around thirty per cent more talk time and forty per cent more stand by time per battery charge cycle, meaning that you have to charge your Blackberry a lot less often than you need to charge your iPhone. Not bad at all…

What the iPhone 5 Does Better…

Not all that much, actually. Depending on which model you buy, the iPhone may have more storage. The Blackberry comes with 16 GB of internal memory, the iPhone can come with anywhere from 8 GB to 64 GB, which will affect how much music, photos, games etc. can be stored on your device. The iPhone App Store has around nine times more available apps to download than the Blackberry App World, meaning that finding, downloading and installing new programmes and games onto your iPhone is easier and more convenient. Other than that, the iPhone is smaller, thinner and a little lighter, but it also has a smaller screen…

Which One Should I Buy?

We actually don’t believe that we’re going to make this recommendation… But, buy the Blackberry. Despite Blackberry’s recent reputation, their new commitment to making competitive, modern smart phones is really bearing fruit. The Z10 is a far better device than the iPhone 5, faster, with a better and bigger screen as well as better battery life. These are things that are exceptionally important in a mobile phone, and therefore are what make the difference between a good phone and a great one. The iPhone 5 is a good phone. The Z10 on the other hand, may just be a great one…

Phil Turner has been asked to look out for a new i Phone for his daughter, but perhaps he can persuade her to consider something better.
