These chuggers are the people who stand on the high street with a clipboard and a pen trying to get you to sign up to a monthly subscription which is fair enough, however the people getting you to sign up are often not actually employed by the charity themselves but by a third party company who need to get paid. For every donor that signs up the third party company can get paid between £80 and £160. This means a lot less money for the charity to do the work it needs to do. As well as this, people often sign up to get rid of the people trying to get them to sign up and then after the initial donation cancel the subscription, this is the worst thing you can do because the charity actually loses out as the money donated doesn’t cover the third parties fee.
